Kayaking across Loch Tay, winter style!

December 23, 2017

Another winter paddle adventure you should try...

One of the largest lochs/lakes in United Kingdom, Loch Tay, Scotland was our first paddle challenge location this winter 2017/18. We chose the shortest day of the year, 21st of December.

This magnificent venue is 24km long, 150m deep and quite narrow, meandering slightly near Ben Lawers mountain range.

We started our trip in Killin, west end of the loch. Jamie, who came with the whole idea, travelled from North Wales day before but was ready to tackle this long trip.

He contacted us at Outdoor Explore, to arrange a kayak challenge on Loch Tay and help him to raise profile of Teddy Bear Children Ltd charity. Great cause!

So, it's just not long after sunrise. Still minus 2 degrees Celsius. We already tackled Loch Ness exactly a year ago. We also crossed Loch Awe and Loch Lomond in the past. This means we know each other habits and can rely more and more on each other skills if we ever needed them. Quite an important part of any expedition, big or small...
