The Green Kayak Challenge

Here is an inspiring story of the handcrafted 50-year-old kayak. The boat was found in a small town, Alyth in Perthshire, stored since the 1960s in a garage and still in a very good shape for its age.


We have decided to take it on the biggest adventure yet, down the longest river in Scotland, River Tay by Piotr Gudan and Jane Wilkinson. Here is our inspiring story and current updates:

13th December 2018 - amazingly our film has been selected to be part of Kendal Mountain Festival 2019 Tour meaning screening across all of the UK during some great events with hundreds of people attending! 22-24th November 2018 - we are taking part in Dundee Mountain Film Festival. On Saturday morning our film is the first to be played. The Green Kayak also will be on display throughout the weekend at this event, the oldest outdoor film festival in the UK. Find out more about the festival and read here. #DMFF


16-18th November 2018 - we have been selected from hundreds of entries to show our film at Kendal Mountain Film Festival 2018, probably one of the biggest one of its kind in the UK! Words cannot describe how exciting and privileged we feel about it. Watch us on Friday and Saturday evenings, a detailed programme is available to read here. #KMFF #Kendal18


19th March 2019 - we are going to Poland with our film. The biggest show, in Gdynia, Kajak Jamboree is taking place annually. We hope to inspire more people from abroad to visit Scotland. Wish us luck! 


28th January 2018 - Our video clip for the adventure did win first prize, Judge's Vote in 'Outdoor Shorts Competition' on the Peebles Outdoor Film Festival which came completely unexpected to us. You can see the movie trailer here: YouTube Channel

19th January 2018 - The Daily Records is sharing our story in print and online. The title called 'Epic 85km kayak challenge for duo' is available to read here.


19th December 2017 - Our official premiere of the short movie from the adventure, filmed by Morrocco Media (their website here). Meeting has taken place at our base, The Barony in Alyth where currently the Green Kayak is on the display. We are open Tue-Sun every week, so please visit (PH11 8AF).


2nd December 2017 - The final clip from the adventure was entered into a small, informal but very inspiring and welcoming Aviemore Mountain Film Festival. After viewer's vote, our short film won second place, a great start! We can't wait to visit the festival in December 2018. You can follow them on Facebook, see the link here .
